Enhancing Collaboration between Uzbekistan and Hungary in Crime Prevention: Minister of Internal Affairs Aziz Tashpulatov pays an official visit to Budapest

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aziz Tashpulatov, led an official delegation to Hungary on July 17-18.

The primary purpose of this visit was to establish mechanisms for information exchange between both Ministries of Internal Affairs, and gain insights from the expertise of the Hungarian police.

During the visit, Minister Tashpulatov met in an official bilateral meeting with Dr. Sándor Pinter, Minister of Internal Affairs of Hungary. The discussions were centered on improving the contractual and legal frameworks between Uzbekistan and Hungary, organizing interagency meetings to address international terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, and drug trafficking, as well as advancing collaborative efforts between the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent and the Budapest Police Department. Moreover, the parties stressed the importance of exchanging experiences regarding security measures at public events and tourist venues, and establishing partnerships in cybersecurity and digital forensics.

As a result of the meeting, a "Roadmap" was developed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary outlining the framework for cooperative development through 2025-2026.

As part of the visit, a comprehensive overview of Hungary's distinguished practices in law enforcement and education was provided to the Uzbek delegation. Notably, the delegation met with Dr. Lajos Szabo, the Head of the Hungarian National Institute of Cyber Security. The meeting focused on the establishment of effective systems to combat contemporary cyber threats, the enhancement of interdepartmental cooperation for the prevention of internet-related attacks and incidents, the analysis of cybercrime, and the organization of joint training sessions.

The delegation also explored the initiatives of the International Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies in Budapest, emphasizing the importance of organizing international and qualification courses for Uzbek professionals.

The delegation also became familiar with the operational processes of the Budapest Police Department, observing the Smart City video surveillance system in use in the Hungarian capital. They engaged in discussions regarding the forecasting and analysis of public safety threats and the strategic deployment of police resources based on situational demands, emphasizing the importance of enhancing practical collaboration between the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent and the Budapest Police Department.

Moreover, the Uzbek delegation explored the functions of the Hungarian Anti-Terrorist Center, gaining an understanding of how radicalized individuals can be identified, how international terrorist organizations can be exposed, their activities studied, and how online threats can be monitored in Hungary.

During their visit, the delegation also visited the Hungarian Police Academy. In talks with Dr. Ernö Krauser, the Academy's head, they discussed the training and professional development of police officers, the integration of innovative practices adapted from the Hungarian police experience into the context of Uzbekistan, and the organization of internships for both cadets and faculty members.

This official visit by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Hungary is expected to significantly strengthen cooperation in law enforcement between the two countries and enhance mutual trust.
